Antibody Detection and identification: Patterns, Patience and Precision
29 June 2022
8am, 2pm, 5pm ET | 12pm, 6pm, 9pm UTC
Level of Instruction: Intermediate
Language: English
This webinar is a part of the series, Transfusion Medicine: Top to Bottom with Jayanna Slayten, MS, MT(ASCP)SBBcm
Webinar Objectives:
- Explain detection and identification of red cell alloantibodies.
- Explore problem solving techniques including evaluation of the patient’s clinical and transfusion history, autocontrol, DAT and red cell phenotype.
- Define appropriate testing methods for IgM compared to IgG reactive antibodies.
- Apply antibody identification practices in case studies
Summary of Session:
When the antibody detection test is reactive and antibody identification is required. This course will define the common rules, requirements, and rigors of identification of red cell alloantibodies. Finding a pattern of reactivity is one step in defining the specificity of antibody reactivity. Responding with patience and precision for next steps in antibody identification will be demonstrated in case study examples.
