Webinar Objectives:
- Define normal and abnormal coagulation lab findings.
- Correlate laboratory results with common clinical signs and symptoms in the patient.
- Discriminate normal and abnormal platelet laboratory results.
- Apply coagulation and hematology results in case study examples focusing on the provision of appropriate transfusion of blood products or medical intervention.
Summary of Session:
The ability to maintain hemostasis is monitored in the laboratory with coagulation and hematology methods. This course will define the laboratory methods and analysis used in the evaluation of the overall hemostasis of a patient. Discussion will include maintaining normal hemostasis and what actions may occur with abnormal hemostatic findings. The Blood Bank/ Transfusion Service aid in the care of the patient with abnormal hemostatic or platelet results with the provision of timely blood administration.
